CITY OF MUSKEGON HEIGHTS EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY FULL TIME FIRE FIGHTER
Non SAFER Grant Position Salary $30,600.00 – 42,860.69
The City of Muskegon Heights is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Full Time Fire Fighter. This posting is being made to fill one position as well as an eligibility list for future openings.
Job Summary: Performs duties, both in emergency and non-emergency situations, related to fire protection, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, and emergency management delivery. Serves as the principal hands-on labor in providing fire department emergency and non-emergency services to the community. A firefighter is responsible for rapid and efficient performance on specialized equipment under emergency conditions. Although fire fighting, including equipment operation is most important to the work of the fire fighter, a large portion of his time is spent preparing to combat fires and maintaining fire station property and equipment. Work is normally performed under close supervision and specific work assignments are given by a superior officer both in fighting fires, and at the station. A fire fighter is subject to call at any time in case of emergencies. May be required to perform fire code and safety inspections. Performs all other related work as required or assigned.
- Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED
- State of Michigan Firefighter Level I & II Certification
- Operations Hazardous Materials Certificate
- Valid Michigan Emergency Medical License(MFR or EMT)
- Current CPR and AED training
- FFTC Drivers Training Certification
- Valid Michigan driver’s license
- Experience in structural firefighting
Applicants must successfully complete:
- Written examination.
- Physical agility test
- Oral interview.
- Physical examination (including alcohol/drug screen),
- Comprehensive background investigation
